Manic Monday!

{Manic Monday}

A little bit of organization goes a long way when it comes to starting your week off right! Weddings can be overwhelming and it can be difficult figure out where to even start. These are the top five items to focus on when getting started with your wedding planning:

1. Budget

Here at Big City Catering, we always tell our clients to decide what’s important to them and determine their budget accordingly. Are you photography inclined? Do table decorations make the evening for you? Will the difference between a plated meal or buffet determine your happiness during the reception? Once you have your priorities straight you can set your budget and start the search!

2. Guest List

You don’t need to make your final list early on, but getting an idea of how many people you expect will help determine your venue selection as well as give your caterer an idea of how to build your proposal. Be sure to think about your potential out-of-state guests, whether you are having a destination wedding, and how many children will be included in your number.

3. Date

If you can’t decide on a date just yet, narrow your options by deciding on a season, month, and/or date of the week. Having an idea of who is on your guest can help you make these decisions as well.

4. Venue

The earlier you start with your venue search, the more likely you will be to land the perfect spot to say I Do!. If you are searching for an outdoor venue, make sure you discuss rain plans, how to ensure your guests stay cool if your date is during the warmer months, and what their accommodations are for vendors such as your caterer.

5. Vendors

Utilizing websites such as The Knot or Perfect Wedding Guide are great foundations for your vendor search. If you have friends who have recently gotten married, talk to them about who they used and what they thought. You can even inquire about preferred vendors from your venue or another vendor you are working with. We love to help our clients look for other vendors we know will help make their day as special as possible.
