So many people are becoming concerned about decreasing their carbon footprint. Our entire country is taking strides to make the place we live a little bit “greener.” Luckily, on your wedding day all of those wonderful initiatives don’t have to go out of the window! There are many ways you can incorporate environmentally friendly things into your wedding day, and we are here to share some ideas.
-The less “stuff” you have the better, you can simplify your wedding without cutting out the style. Reduce & Reuse. For example, think about using some of the same items and pieces for your Rehearsal Dinner, Ceremony, and Reception. This effort will help save resources AND money.
-Minimize the amount of driving your guests need to do by choosing the same site for the ceremony and reception, or choosing venues very close in distance. Put out of town guests up at the nearest hotel.
-Use candles and plants to help decorate the venue. These can be such a beautiful touch, and you can even have your guests take home some of the plants and they can replant them at their homes!
-Think about using 100% recycled paper or partially recycled paper for your wedding announcements, invitations, place cards, menus, ceremony programs, and thank you cards.
-Consider seeds, local grown honey, herbs, or bamboo coasters for wedding favors.
These are just a few ideas to get you thinking on the right track! While planning your wedding, always keep in mind the phrase, “reduce, reuse, and recycle.” Your green wedding will not go unnoticed by your guests and your efforts will hopefully rub off on them.
