ope your holiday season is proving to be a safe and happy one. As the fire burns brightly, and everyone is playing with their new gifts, why not whip up this delicious snack- a traditional holiday favorite with a twist! It is sure to be a delightful addition to your holiday celebration.


Spicy Gingerbread Loaf

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 and 3/4 cups unbleached all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (can be omitted if using salted butter)
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Cream first 4 ingredients- butter, egg, sugar, molasses
  3. Mix in the dry ingredients
  4. Add hot water and stir until just combined
  5. Pour batter into greased baking pans
  6. Bake until a toothpick placed into the center comes out clean, about 30-45 minutes
  7. Remove from oven, and let sit about 10 minutes before removing from pan
